For the brain to shut down enough to give you undisturbed sleep you should turn off lights including those on the landing if you sleep with your door open and in the summer when the sun comes up earlier so that your routine is not disturbed have thick curtains that keep light out.

Last but of course not least make sure the clothes you have decided to wear to sleep in are comfortable. There are many different kinds of sleepwear but the most comfortable, especially for those who suffer with allergies are those that are made from natural materials and allow the skin to breath.
