Melatonin For Insomnia Is A Useful Sleep Aid
Some people take melatonin for insomnia to help regulate their normal sleep cycle and supplement the natural melatonin produced by your pineal gland. It interacts according to the amount of darkness or light around you and therefore keeps your normal daily circadian rhythm in check for you. Your hormone levels rise and fall throughout the day and your kidneys produce more urine during the day and less at night. During different point in the day, your body temperature is higher than at other times. These normal changes are rhythmic and aid us in staying functioning and alert during the day and allows to rest and rejuvenate when we should.
Melatonin for insomnia can help stabilize a normal sleep cycle. Normally, your melatonin levels increase as it gets dark and peak during the middle of the night and the melatonin levels synchronizes your sleep to the night.
Sometimes your normal sleep cycle gets disrupted and you feel sleepy during the day and can’t sleep at night. When you hear people explain it as their days and nights being confused, this is exactly what occurs. Jet lag is one example of circadian insomnia as your body is on one time and your new location on another. Your body is cranking out melatonin on its usual schedule. Even though it physically may be daylight out, your body will be craving deep sleep and may not want to wake for many more hours. It can be very helpful to take melatonin for insomnia caused by jet lag. You take it before you go to bed, and it helps you reset your biological clock. It is also nice to know that it is also a natural sleep aid.
Melatonin For Insomnia Benefits Night Shift Workers
Another example of using melatonin for insomnia is for night shift workers, who work during the night and get their biological clocks confused for two reasons. First, they are awake during the dark hours and try to sleep during the light hours. Secondly, they don’t do that all the time as on their days off they try to resume a normal sleep schedule. Therefore, there is a constant change in the hours they sleep. Melatrol with melatonin is one form of this natural sleep aid.
For insomnia suffered by night shift workers, melatonin is used often. Because light suppresses the production of melatonin, its beneficial to use melatonin for insomnia in cases where you must get your sleep during the day time. Because there is not adequate melatonin produced by the body during the day, you can not sleep well.
If the changes in your typical sleep cycle cause insomnia, relying on melantonin can be very helpful. It can do two things, one is help you naturally reset your biological clock to get the night time sleep you need, or it can add to the natural melatonin your body is already producing to help you sleep through the day if you need to.
